When you were 5, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I’m so old now it’s hard to remember that far back but I will go with Firefighter
Tell me about your greatest achievement?
That’s a tough one as I have a few. Representing my county at junior level from the age of 6. Moving to Asia in 2003 and making a real good life for myself and winning many Asian Jumbo Doubles Squash tournaments. But, as I am a proud dad then the birth of my daughter is easily my greatest achievement.
Tell me about the most embarrassing moment you’ve ever had?
I’m not sure I can actually tell you that …
What’s the BEST and WORST advice you’ve ever received?
Best – My very first coach said that I could accomplish anything with hard work. Worst – My teacher said I would pass my exams easily and there was no need to revise….How wrong he was. Haha
If you could have a SUPERPOWER what would it be and why?
Injury Immunity – Then I can carry on playing sports for a lot longer.
If you could challenge any famous person or character to a tennis match, who would it be and why?
Edberg or Federer, their single handed backhands are a true joy to watch and there’s nothing like hitting with the best.
Was there a reoccurring theme or comment that featured on all your school report cards?
Anything to do with sports and my report card was full of praise and glowing with positives. All other subjects “Could Try Harder”
Toy or hobby you were most obsessed with as a child?
Toy – Any Rubik’s Toy (loved the challenge of solving the puzzle) Hobby, that’s the easy one, Tennis. Was at my local club 8 hours a day at weekends and all holidays.
If you could go back in time and give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Look after my body more, eat more healthy and most importantly….stretch
Would you rather have fingers for toes or toes for fingers? And how do you think it would affect your tennis game?
Finger for toes definitely, I wouldn’t be in quite so much pain each day hopefully (my toes are gnarly)
